About GAJA Korean Restaurant & Bar in Ponsonby, Auckland
It all started from nights out with close mates eating Korean food & conversations over Soju.
We wanted to share this unforgettable experience with as many people as possible—because there was something truly special about it.
In the beginning, we borrowed a tiny kitchen to experiment and develop our menu. We spent endless nights scouring restaurant lease listings, overcoming the national staff shortage, and—truth be told—drinking way more Soju than anyone should! All that hard work led us to create GAJA, our own twist on a Korean Suljib (drinking house), right here in Ponsonby, Auckland.
A couple of years down the track (with plenty of ups and downs along the way), we’re still thrilled to see our customers enjoying the same magic that started our journey. Seeing people laugh, share plates, and clink glasses over bold Korean flavors is what keeps us going.
